I just read the funniest most hilariously sick comic book ever, “From the Ashes” which is like the canceled CBS TV Show Jericho meets “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. Even if you don’t read or like Comic Books, you’ve got to read “From the Ashes” by Bob Fingerman on IDW Comics. I couldn’t stop laughing. Never has Nuclear Destruction been so funny! I wish I had money because I’d buy an option to make “From the Ashes” into a movie. I don’t think any TV Network would have the balls to make it into a series but maybe someone would have the guts to make it into a movie.
“From the Ashes” is about married couple Bob and Michelle Fingerman (this is the authors memoirs) who against all odds, reason and explanation, have survived the Nuclear Destruction of the United States in perfect condition, and as of issue Number 1, are the sole Non Rabid Survivors in New York City. Part of their tale is told in Lost type flashbacks: Michelle was a workaholic glued to her Blackberry and Bob was a writer. They wander through their new Post Apocalyptic Surroundings like Don Rickles and Danny Devito giving non-stop remarks about their Brave New World. Here’s an example of the hilarity (I’m assuming it is OK to show this panel from the Comic Book. If not, I will remove it).
The entire comic book is like this as this hilarious duo begin to make life in the Post Apocalyptic United States. Imagine if you would the gang from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” living in Jericho but a Jericho in 1000 times worse condition. If you’ve never read a comic book, you’ve got to read “From the Ashes”. Bob Fingerman is a sick genius. Never has Nuclear destruction been so funny.
